ARTIST BIO

Sarrita King was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 5 March 1988 and if from the Gurindji community of Katherine NT.

Sarrita is the younger sister to artist Tarisse King and the daughter of the late, renowned artist William King.

Sarrita’s father’s community of Gurindji is most well known as being the very first successful Indigenous land rights case in Australia and this strong sense of community and ties to Country, is one of the major influences throughout Sarrita’s intricate representations of her landscape.

As Sarrita spent most of her younger years living in tropical Darwin, the artist’s works are heavily influenced by the power of nature and the way in which the landscape continues to evolve as the seasons change. As such, Sarrita is highly recognised for her beautiful depictions of ‘Lightning Dreaming’, ‘Sandhills’ and Flood Plains’ which highlight the strength of the earth’s natural elements.

The artist’s works are so unique as Sarrita has the ability to incorporate traditional intricate dotting techniques whilst also including more unconventional painting techniques, passed down to her from her late father to create very fine dot and line work.

The artist is represented throughout major galleries Australia wide and has also had huge international success, particularly throughout Paris.

Sarrita paints her stunning works in both vivid and subtle colour palettes to continually remain in tune with her sacred Country, as it too evolves with the changes in season and energy.
